Colonial conflict or Clash of civilization ?
Algerian war is still subject of controversy in
France and regularly feeds media, printed press, cinema, television and
internet.
Unfortunately, it is too often addressed focusing
only on the aspect of torture involving France.
Brandished from the start of the conflict by
political organizations and persons involved with the insurgents, this
spectre conceals the crimes of the muslims on one hand, and the
connections of this war with arab nationalism and islamic integrism on
another hand.
Besides the war of decolonizations, Algerian war is
also a clash of civilization, and for this aspect it deserves to go
beyond the accusation of the colonial state only, to determine in a
wider way the roots of the conflict.
This also means an objective view on torture by enlarging the scope to
all the protagonists of the conflict, such as those who created the
Algerian state who are suprisingly excluded.
